A Modern Bushveld Wedding at Kuthaba Bush Lodge
A Bushveld Venue with a Modern Twist
Lush Greenery • Overhanging Florals • Fruits & Vegetables Floral Artistry
Kuthaba Bush Lodge has a great reputation for its breathtaking views, romantic sunsets and authentic bushveld atmosphere, and this wedding showcased exactly how a natural, rustic setting can be transformed into something modern, stylish and refreshingly unique.
For this celebration, we combined luxurious overhanging greenery runners with bold organic elements like vegetables to create a sensory experience that felt both sophisticated and deeply connected to nature.
Kuthaba Bush Lodge’s open, raw architecture set the tone for a wedding design that embraced luxe simplicity. Rather than traditional florals, the couple envisioned something more grounded, something that reflected the earthy beauty of the bush, yet still felt high-end and curated. Our design direction centred around long, cascading greenery runners full of texture and movement with fresh fruit and vegetables bringing rich natural tones to the tables, creating a look that felt alive, fresh and unexpected. The result was a space that felt modern, organic and irresistibly elegant.
Fresh fruit and vegetable installations
The statement element of this wedding was the tablsecape of the bridal couple, showcasing a full floral arrangement on the table and magnificent overhanging greenery installation with accents of fresh vegetables. We used eucalyptus and touches of seasonal foliage throughout the look. These were layered and allowed to spill downwards to create a sense of vertical movement and fullness. The use of fresh vegatables in the floral arrangements at a time when organic elements were still almost unheard of, made this wedding stand out. Styled intentionally and tastefully within the tablescapes, these organic elements added texture (artichokes, cabbage roses, globe onions), colour pops (pomegranates), earthy depth (baby aubergines, kale) and a modern, sustainable aesthetic. Instead of traditional blooms, the tables became a celebration of life, abundance and nature; a perfect fit for Kuthaba’s warm, earthy setting.
To complement the greenery and produce-based florals, we kept the table décor refined and modern with neutral runners, earthy decor and a hint of rosegold accents. The result was minimalistic Luxe — intentionally simple yet visually striking.
Golden Hour Magic at Kuthaba
The ceremony unfolded against Kuthaba’s iconic tree in the middle of the bush. As the sun dipped behind the bushveld, the entire scene shifted into warm earthy golds, perfectly mirrored by the décor palette by the reception area. The natural beauty of the venue made every detail stand out without overpowering the landscape.
The golden hour photo's of the couple created pure magic.
As the evening settled in, the hanging runners glowed with soft candlelight bouncing off the fruits and leaves. The atmosphere became warm, intimate, romantic and full of modern bushveld charm/ Guests dined under the star-filled sky, with each table feeling like a curated piece of living art.
A Celebration Rooted in Nature and Style
This wedding was the perfect example of how modern design can blend seamlessly with the African bushveld. By leaning into the venue’s natural textures and pairing them with contemporary styling, we created a look that was organic and unexpected, deeply connected to the couple's vision. It is honestly so easy to transform Kuthaba Bush Lodge into something magical, and this wedding will always stand out for its bold use of greenery and edible florals.
